A general knowledge quiz that never asks you the same question twice. If something is not working, or you cannot find how to do something, the answers below cover most of it — and if they do not, the email address at the bottom reaches a person.

What is the difference between the three modes?

• Quick Quiz gives you four answers and you pick one. It does not end — keep going as long as you like.
• Daily Quiz is ten questions, refreshed every day.
• Challenge shows no options at all. You think of the answer, reveal it, and mark yourself honestly.

Why do Challenge points not appear on the leaderboard?

Because Challenge asks you to mark your own answer, and a leaderboard built on self-marking would not mean anything. Challenge still counts towards your own statistics and your streak — it just does not compete against other people. Quick Quiz and the Daily Quiz both count on the board.

I was asked a question I had seen before.

That should not happen, and it is worth reporting. The app keeps a record of every question you have been shown and excludes them. The one case where a question can come round again is if you delete your account and start over, because that record is deleted with everything else.

What happens when I have seen every question?

New questions are written and added automatically as the pool runs down, so in normal use you should not reach the end. The home screen and the Statistics screen both show how many you have not been asked yet. If you do run out, the app will tell you rather than start repeating.

I think a question or its answer is wrong.

Please send it to the address above — the question and what you think the right answer is. Corrections are made by hand and take effect for everyone.

How are points worked out?

A correct answer scores by difficulty: 10 for Easy, 20 for Medium, 35 for Hard and 55 for Expert.

On top of that, every answer you get right in a row adds 2 more points to the next one, up to a maximum of 20. So a run of correct answers is worth considerably more than the same number scattered about.

A wrong answer scores nothing and ends the run. Nothing is ever deducted.

Your account

Do I need an account?

No. You can play straight away without giving any details. Progress is kept on the device you are using.

Then why would I create one?

So your progress follows you. Without an account it lives only in the app on that one device — clear the app's data, or move to a new phone, and it is gone. With an account you can sign in anywhere and pick up where you were.

I have forgotten my password.

Use the recovery code you were shown when you created the account. It is the only way back in.

If you did not keep it, the account cannot be recovered — not by us either. That is deliberate: the code is stored only as a one-way hash, so nobody holds a copy that could be handed to the wrong person. You can create a new account, but the old progress cannot be moved across.

How do I delete my account?

Inside the app: open Sign in / create account from the home screen and choose Delete account. You will be asked for your password, or to type DELETE if you are playing as a guest.

It happens immediately and cannot be undone. Everything goes: your answers, your statistics, your streaks, your place on the leaderboard, your friend connections and your email address. Nothing is kept back.

How do I get my name on it?

Set a display name on the Leaderboard screen. Leave it blank and you appear as a Guest. There is also a setting to hide yourself from the board completely while still keeping your own statistics.

What do "This week" and "All time" cover?

The weekly board counts what you have scored since the start of the current week and resets when the week turns over. The all-time board counts everything. Friends shows only the people you have connected with.

Reminders

How do I turn the daily reminder on or off?

The app offers it once you have been playing for a while, and you can accept or decline. It is off unless you ask for it. To stop reminders afterwards, turn off notifications for this app in your device settings.

Privacy

What the app stores, why, and how long for is set out in full on the privacy page. In short: there is no advertising, no analytics service and no tracking across other apps and sites, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing.
